Art Day 2023

September 26, 2023

Dear Art Teacher,

the 2023 art day logo, a sunrise and a windmill with the word CSC in the windmill and and 2023 Art Day on the sun

Chadron State College is hosting their annual Art Day for area high school students who excel in the visual arts. On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, you are invited to gather for workshops in clay, printmaking, drawing, design, and other media with the students, staff, and faculty of the CSC Art Department. There will also be a brief session presented by CSC Admissions to all participants around 8:30 am in the Memorial Hall Lobby/Gallery.

Teachers are welcome to sit in on workshops or relax and get acquainted with one another in our Teacher Hospitality Center in the atrium of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center. At 9:30 am in the Sandoz Center, we have a special guest speaker for you—Gabby Michna, the director of the Chadron Chamber of Commerce, will talk about the Chadron Art Alley and starting and continuing a city mural painting program.

Also, at the Center you can find exhibits about Mari Sandoz, famous writer from the Sandhills. In downtown Chadron, you can take a walking tour of Chadron’s own Art Alley and mural projects, located in the alley just west of Main Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.

Each school is asked to limit their numbers to no more than 10 students (preferably juniors and seniors) due to facility size and staff numbers. For lunch, there is a cafeteria on campus as well as local restaurants in town.

If you have any questions about the 2023 Art Day, please contact Valarie Graf at vgraf@yxxxstone.com, 308-432-6317 or 1-800-CHADRON and ask for Valarie Graf. Please select the "Register Now" link below and complete the registration form as we need to know that you will be attending and the number of students, their names, email, and their t-shirt sizes by no later than Wednesday, October 11th.
